One Step Back for Many Steps Forward

We’ve provided a quick year-end reflection and goal setting practice you can do any time of year, because it’s never too late!

Start by asking yourself a few key questions:

  • What made you happiest and stressed in 2022?

  • Any major lessons learned?

  • What’s your In/Out list for 2023?

  • The biggest commitment you want to make this year?

Our journal has everything you need to guide you step-by-step through the process!

Step 1: Create time & space for yourself - do you have 30 minutes in the morning, during a work break, or before bed that you can intentionally set aside for reflection?

Step 2:  Grab something to get those thoughts from your brain out - a journal, piece of paper from your printer or notebook, or even a note on your phone or computer will do!

Step 3: Ground yourself in the moment. Let’s take a few deep breaths, in through the nose… sigh it out through the mouth, repeat until you feel centered.

Step 4: Time to let it out! A few questions to work off of:

  • What made you happy, proud, excited, loved in 2022?

  • What made you stressed, sad, negative in 2022?

  • Major lessons learned?

  • In/More & Out/Less list: write down 5-10 things you want in/more of and out/less of in 2023

  • What do you want to commit yourself to this year? Anything holding you back/scaring you from this? What’s a mantra/statement you would tell future you to overcome this and stay committed?

BONUS STEP: Write this down somewhere you’ll see it everyday, maybe save it as your phone background, put it on your mirror or bedside table.
