How To Store Your Coffee Beans at Home

What is the best way to keep coffee fresh and brew like a professional, right from your home?

Preserving the freshness of your coffee beans is a key factor in brewing the perfect cup!

Here are our top recommendations for what to do once you bring your bag of beans home.

  • Step 1: Buy whole and grind fresh per brew if possible. Check out this journal here to learn more about buying ground beans versus whole beans. If you opt for pre ground, get these into an airtight container as soon possible.

Step 2: Keep beans in a cool and dark spot - inside a cabinet/pantry/etc that has well controlled temperature.

    1. To refrigerate or freeze? Even the National Coffee Association agrees this one is still up for debate. The key factor here is not letting in moisture, so if you do plan to store beans for a long time in a cooled space like this, be sure your container is truly airtight. Also, do not open the bag until right before you need to use the beans

  • Step 3: Keep the bag or container your beans are in airtight, always. If you buy beans from Fundati, we have resealable zips. In other cases, you can roll up as air tight as possible and seal with tape or an elastic band.

  • Another option to store maybe a large portion of beans airtight is an airtight container. And again, just be careful of moisture!
